Amazon, Beqiia, Port Elizabeth.

This morning I was up early enough to see us sail into Admirality Bay toward Bequi, Port Elizabeth. Port Elizabeth is part of St. Vincent and the Grenedines. There are 32 Island's and Cay's scattered across the southern Windward Island chain. St Vincent being the largest of the group.

Bequi is only a little more than 8 miles (13 kilometers) from it's larger neighbor. The Carib name means "Island in the clouds", and the highest point does often touch the clouds, as it did for us today. Port Elizabeth was named in 1936 to honor Queen Elizabeth II.

We anchored out in the bay at 8:00AM and the tenders were let down and when we received the all clear - passengers started to go ashore.

We didn't have anything planned for today so the boy's stayed aboard the Prinsendam (Bob keeping an eye on Eric) and priscilla and i boarded a tender and off we went to explore the little town. Some had told us when we were headed to the tenders that we would be right back, I really don't know what some people think when they go travelling. We certainly didn't come right back.

There were a few shops where the tender docked but we bypassed these and started walking up the beach and then we came upon the "Belmont Walkway" and so we continued along this. We saw small crabs and small black fish in the water. We collected some shells and beach glass along our walk. There were a couple of nice places where you could swim, and some were; however we had not put on our swimsuits so only waded.

On the way back we stopped at the Whale Bone Bar" for a cold drink, looked in a few shops and bought a couple of things.

Bequi is a lovely little village/town with very friendly people. We stayed ashore for about 3 hours and then caught a tender back to the Prinsendam. We didn't want to get left behind as we had no idea where there might be an airport to fly to catch up with the ship. So we had another late lunch and the boy's had already eaten.

At dinner our Seattle tablemates were telling us about their drive around the Island which they enjoyed and thought it was a lovely little Island.

After dinner we went to see "Encore" in the Showroom which featured the prinsendam singers and dancers. They really are good but it is just too bad that the sound is away too loud. It was a concert style show given an operatic makeover. Bob had gone with earplugs in and said he could hear just fine that way and was then able to see the whole show. I sat out in the lobby/corridor where I could see it and it was still too loud for my ears.

So with headaches we retired to our cabin's for tylenol and a good night sleep.
