Christmas at Sea, Dec. 17 & 18/14

Well we are still quite lazy these sea days.Wednesday we still had a bit of sea swell but not as bad as Tuesday. Thursday the sea has leveled off and the "barf" bags have been removed from the hallways, elevators, etc..

Bob attended the presentation of the history of the Ukulele and it's gift to the world.

Then on Thursday they started to give lessons on the Ukulele; so both Bob & I attended this class. We both ffound it hard getting our arthritc fingers around the neck and onto the strings. Plus Bob's fingers are shorter and he can no longer play his violin because of that.

It was also Formal night; or as Bob call's it"monkey suit night,. It was supposed to have been lst night but becaause of the ship rocking it was postponed to Wednesday.  We all cleaned up & dressed up nicely; and all our dinner mates were in attendence.

After dinner we attended  "Bob Mackies Broadway" show which was held in the Showroom at Sea. The show featured hit songs from Broadway's biggest blockbusters, featuring costumes by legendary designer Bob Mackie.

The costumes were gorgeous and the whole show was very well done and I believe that this group of singers and dancers are the best we have seen on our cruises for sometime.

Also this evening Wed. was the Captains Welcome Toast, where all were given a glass of wine, champagne. or ginger ale as we entered the Showroom. There were the fewest officers introduced that I have ever seen at the Captains Welcome.

After the show we retired again and Bob went right to bed. He couldn't get out of his "monkey suit" fast enough.

We arrived back to our cabin to find Elf riding an elephant. I wonder what else he gets up to while we are gone ?

Thursday we were a little more active. Ate in the Dining Room for breakfast

Bob did his mile around the deck again while I went to a sminar on Coffee by David Pengelly who entertained us one evening with his humor, song ukulele. He owns a coffee company and buys the beans and roasts them. He told us to never place coffee either in the freezer or refrigerator. It takes on dampness which depletes the flavor. Always keep it in an airtight dark container which air or light can not get at. Very interesting presentation.

After we tried to learn to play the Ukulele Bob went to the gym and I went to Dutch High Tea at 3:00pm. Very nice. The currant scones were to die for, yummy.

I went to the dining room for dinner tonight but Bob didn't see anything he was interested in so he went to the Lido to find that they have the same menu as the dining room at night. I knew that but figured he needed to find out for himself.

We met up after dinner to see Jeff McBride in the Showroom who is an illusionist and magician. He wasn'ttoo bad but we have seen better.

After the show we went to the Lido Deck whwre they had the Grand Opening of the Lido Tiki Bar. It was nicely decorated and the HAL Cats played and Sydney sang and a lot danced the night away.

With every drink you bought you received a complimentary Jell-O shot. Lime jell-o and tequila, it had a bit of a kick to it. Also got a pina-colada in a Tiki glass to keep.

Below are a few pic's from around the ship.
