Sailing towards Half Moon Cay

Today we are at sea all day sailing towards Half Moon Cay, which is Holland America's private Island.

This morning I attended another Mariners Society Reception at 10:30AM in the Queens Lounge. They didn't hand out as many medallions as last week. There were 5 bronzemedels presented  and there were also 5 for passengers who did not attend. They then asked for all who now have their Bronze medel to stand (I have mine), then the silver, gold and platinum.

The girls didn't attend as they had been trying to make reservations for the Tamarind Restaurnt ever since we borded the ship and today they were able to go. The Tamarind is Pan - Asian cusine; which features South Asia, China & Japan.

I did not go with them as after the Reception there was a Luncheon in the Manhatten Dining Room for the Mariners. On our invitations we had assigned seating with our table number,. I got to my table for 6 and i was the only one at it. The group of peopl from the next table to me invited me to join them as they also had a couple of empty seats. It was a very nice reception and luncheon; but the girls said they didn't really miss it because they really enjoyed their lunch at the Tamarindand pleased that they were able to dine there.

The seas were lovely and calm today after a rather rocking and rolling night. However the girls never even knew it was rough as they slept right through it for 12 hours.

Our Captain stated in his afternoon report that it was 79F today.

The walk, On Deck For a Cure, was held this afternoon but it was just too warm for me. I have done it in the past. You walk 5 miles around the Promenade deck, I'm not sur but I think it is 4 trips around for 1 mile. I am trying to keep my feet elevated as much as possible as in this heat my ankle's are swelling. Some days they look as bib as my knee's. So pumps are out on formal nights.

After dinner tonight we went to the showroom at Sea and for showtime tonight the "Garage Band" was playing.  As we entered the showroom we were each given a pot, pan, etc. and a stick, wooden spoon or something to make "music" with our pot.

They got mixed reviews, but we loved it. It was noisy, but then we were helping to make that "musical" noise.  I believe the band is from NY and all their instruments are from things they found in their garages or garage sales. They didn't have one proper musical instrument but they were talented and could sure play what they had made. A real fun evening.  So, don't throw away that junk, make music of it instead.

After Showtime I went to the Lido for my nightly green Tes and a couple of chocclate chip cookies and took them back to our deck to sip and read awhile. It is so nice sitting there in the dark and quiet watching the stars and hearing the surf. Sometimes we meet other ships or pass them in the night (or day) as well. Bliss.  This I am going to miss when I get home.

I think the girls went to the Piano bar and maybe the Mix Nightclub, anyhow they didn't get back until after midnight.  Oh... to be young again.  !!
